The Hawaiian lei is a symbolic garland representing aloha—love, friendship, and honor—dating back over 1,000 years to Polynesian settlers. The lei is traditionally made from flowers, leaves, shells, or feathers, and marks special occasions like graduations, weddings, and birthdays, or simply welcome visitors. May Day is lei day here in Hawaiʻi. For this reason, we share and celebrate the lei with our visitors and locals alike in the making, wearing, and giving of the lei. “A Gift of Beautiful Leis!”
