Saturday Briefing (Bruce Schneider) -- Outrigger's timeshare partner, Fairfield Resorts, has become part of Wyndham Vacation Ownership, Inc., a division of the new Wyndham Worldwide hospitality company. Fairfield's previous parent company, Cendant Corporation, was recently split up into four separate companies to focus on hospitality, travel distribution, real estate services, and rental cars.
The new parent company that now contains what were Cendant's hospitality companies is known as Wyndham Worldwide. Its timeshare division, Wyndham Vacation Ownership, formerly the Cendant Timeshare Resort Group, also contains the Trendwest timeshare and the RCI exchange companies, in addition to Fairfield Resorts. Together these companies, under Wyndham Vacation Ownership, represent the world's largest timeshare organization in terms of annual sales and ownership base, now over 750,000 owner families worldwide. They will continue to market and sell vacation ownership interests under both the Fairfield and Trendwest brands.
All aspects of Outrigger's alliance with Fairfield Resorts will remain the same. The Fairfield Waikiki BeachWalk, to be managed by Outrigger Hotels & Resorts when it opens this November, will be co-branded with the Fairfield Resorts and Wyndham Vacation Ownership names.
