Lei making and lei giving. What makes a lei special? You'll find out when you make one of your own. A simple lei, and the affection with which one is made, is one of the oldest Hawaiian customary practices - sharing aloha.

Learn Hawaiian Language

Time to learn something new - how about a few Hawaiian words and phrases? This is a great opportunity to learn how to pronounce a few important place names, that will help you get around, learn your "mauka" to "makai" directions and have some fun while you're at it.

Hula for Keiki -- and Mom and Dad Too!

It's always a good time to do the hula. Learn simple steps and movements - your body will appreciate the gentle rhythms and swaying of this age ancient connection with the natural world. From the culture's earliest beginnings, Hawaiians have been giving thanks to the elements through the practice of hula.

'Ukulele Class (Adults and Akamai Keiki)

Strum a tune on an 'ukulele. It's easier than it looks. Especially if you practice! Joinus for a practice session, we'll teach you a few tunes, and the next time you show up, you'll be ready to jam!

Hula Lessons by Germaine Haili

Everyboday does the hula - especially when Germaine is around! Germaine is a wonderful hula instructor, and she'll get everyone moving - and laughing. Hula is a great way to connect to Hawai'i nei. You'll get to practice basic steps and learn a simple hula while you're at it.

Learn to play Hawaiian Hula Implements

Mike Kop makes all kinds of Hawaiian hula instruments for his buisness, Hula Supply Center. He and his wife Sylvia are part-owners at Mana Hawai'i. It's a real thrill to have Mike here to talk story and demonstrate the making of hula instruments. He'll even show you how they're used and let you try them out.
