Unmasked: Waikiki Beach Walk Reveals March Madness Specials at the "Go-To" Spots for Sports

March 18, 2022

Effective March 26, Hawaii will become the last state in the union to drop its mask mandate, but at Waikiki Beach Walk, there will be a lot more revealed than pale jawlines as we present a month packed with fun activities and great deals.

First of all, it’s obvious there’s always been a certain amount of madness to March. From tumultuous weather to the assassinations of ancient Roman rulers all the way to current times, where a certain basketball tournament suddenly turns people who think a dribble is something hanging off of a baby’s chin into rabid basketball fans.

Fortunately, Waikiki Beach Walk has several ways to delight these folks, along with those who actually know what dribbling is. And topping the list would be Waikiki Beach Walk’s “go-to” spots for sports.

Sporting over 20 television screens (pun intended) and 5 times that number for taps (that means over 100), Yard House has the immensity and capacity that can have you enjoying sports like you were actually in an arena. Albeit one with much more comfortable seats and legroom. Throw in the aforementioned great beer selection of draft beers …and of course a full bar, robust fare and elbow room, you get a far more comfortable setting to watch the games. For a Honolulu sports bar, it’s one of the best.

And for March Madness, Yard House is offering a special Flight & Pint offer: Get a four-pack flight (a rack of beer samples), and then a pint of the beer of your choice (presumably chosen from the flight) …for just $15!

And to save time, Yard House will be making you hazy before you even have your first sip of brew, because your choice will be from one their delectable new array of Hazy IPAs:
  • Samuel Adams Wicked Hazy IPA
  • Goose Island Hazy Beer Hug Hazy IPA
  • Cigar City Fancy Papers Hazy IPA
  • Stone Hazy IPA

Giovanni Pastrami

Not to be outdone — or out (bar)gunned — Giovanni Pastrami offers you the same number of television screens, but in a much more intimate setting, and with a great beer selection of over 20 beers on tap, with many local beer choices. Not only all that, but you’ll get to enjoy live music after the games.

Giovanni’s is a classic New York-style deli, and as their name indicates, they are pretty darn proud of their pastrami, which they describe as the best pastrami in Waikiki (if not all of Hawaii, and could even give NYC a run). If pastrami isn’t your thing (for the moment), they proudly feature Round Table pizza, which is also considered the best pizza in Waikiki. Still gastronomically restless? Their creative menu will certainly have something to delight anyone…even those who aren’t even looking for a Waikiki sports bar.

Of course, libations go well with the communal sports-watching experience, and for March Madness, Giovanni’s comes through with some super-quenching specials:
  • $3 Miller Lite or Coors Light bottles
  • $5 Modelo drafts
  • $6 Jameson

March Matcha Made in Hawaii Heaven

Finally, we just have to mention a March Matcha made in heaven: the sumptuous Matcha cookie from the Honolulu Cookie Company.

A mouth-watering, delectable cookie, the Matcha is Honolulu Cookie Company’s renowned butter macadamia shortbread cookie that is hand dipped in matcha …a delicious emerald frosting blended with a touch of green tea and creamy white chocolate.

In a nod to the competitive spirit of the tournament, your challenge will be trying to eat just one. But hurry… they are only available for a limited time while supplies last.

But what do cookies have to do with March Madness, you ask?

Because no matter who wins or loses …the outcome is always just the way the cookie crumbles.
