It’s a rich tradition in a very traditional time.

For nearly 10 years, Waikiki Beach Walk has presented “7 Nights of Christmas,” an enchanting program of Hawaiian music and hula that, true to its name, takes place every evening in 7 consecutive days up to Christmas Day.

The tradition continues this year beginning Monday December 19, and culminating Sunday, December 25th . The performances all begin at 6 p.m., which at this time of year means the magical performances take place within the warm, cheery glow of the tiki torches that ring the intimate Waikiki Beach Walk plaza.

Like every year, there are some very special performances scheduled from renowned Hawaii entertainers that will delight visitors and locals alike.

The program begins on Monday, December 19 with the always-crowd-pleasing performance of Hālau ‘O Napuala‘ikauikaiu, presented by its celebrated Kumu Sallie Kauakea Yoza. Featuring traditional hula and song, the audience will be charmed by the beauty of traditional Hawaiian performances by a halau of all ages.

Other notable performances will be the music and charming humor of local favorite Del Beazley and Friends on Tuesday, December 20; acclaimed all-ukulele trio Nue performing with traditional Hawaiian halau Ka Pā Hula O Kauanoe O Waʻahila, under the direction of former Miss Aloha Hula Kumu Hula Maelia Loebestein-Carter on Thursday, December 22.

The heartwarming presentation, “All in the ‘Ohana Christmas” crowns the program on December 25, as three generations of the legendary Waikiki family of Blaine Kamalani Kia share a heartfelt gift of Aloha in music and hula on Christmas night.

Few traditions, even in such a richly traditional time as Christmas, are as special and memorable.
